IoT Technical Community Steering Community Chair: Chonggang Wang
Dr Chonggang Wang is currently a Principal Engineer with InterDigital Communications. He has more than twenty years of experience in the fields of wireless communications, networking, and computing, including research, development, and standardization. His current research interests include future wireless systems, blockchain and distributed ledger technologies, decentralized and pervasive intelligence, and quantum internet. He participates in industry standardization activities with ETSI, IETF/IRTF, 3GPP, oneM2M, and IEEE. He is Vice Chair of ETIS ISG on Permissioned Distributed Ledgers (PDL) and a member of NextG Alliance Research Council. He is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Internet of Things Journal, is the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Network – The Magazine of Global Internetworking, and the Chair of the IEEE Internet of Things Technical Community Steering Committee. He is a Fellow of the IEEE for his contributions to internet of things enabling technologies.

Committee Member: Ricardo Reis
Ricardo Reis received a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 1978, and a Ph.D. degree in Microelectronics from the National Polytechnic Institute of Grenoble (INPG), France, in 1983. Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Montpellier in 2016. He is a full professor at the Informatics Institute of Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. His main research includes physical design automation, design methodologies, fault tolerant systems and microelectronics education. He has more than 700 publications including books, journals and conference proceedings. He was vice-president of IFIP (International Federation for Information Processing) and he was also president of the Brazilian Computer Society (two terms) and vice-president of the Brazilian Microelectronics Society. He is an active member of CASS and he received the 2015 IEEE CASS Meritorious Service Award. He was vice-president of CASS for two terms (2008/2011). He is the founder of the Rio Grande do Sul CAS Chapter, which got the World CASS Chapter of The Year Award 2011, 2012, and 2018, and R9 Chapter of The Year 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2020. He is a founder of several conferences like SBCCI and LASCAS, the CASS Flagship Conference in Region 9. He was the General or Program Chair of several conferences like IEEE ISVLSI, SBCCI, IFIP VLSI-SoC, ICECS, PATMOS. Ricardo was the Chair of the IFIP/IEEE VLSI-SoC Steering Committee, vice-chair of the IFIP WG10.5 and he is Chair of IFIP TC10. He also started with the EMicro, an annually microelectronics school in South Brazil. In 2002 he received the Researcher of the Year Award in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. He is a founding member of the SBC (Brazilian Computer Society) and also founding member of SBMicro (Brazilian Microelectronics Society). He was member of CASS DLP Program (2014/2015), and he has done more than 70 invited talks in conferences. Member of IEEE CASS BoG and IEEE CEDA BoG.

Committee Member: Theo Theocharides
Theocharis (Theo) Theocharides (Senior Member, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree in computer science and engineering from Pennsylvania State University, State College, PA, USA, in 2005. He is currently an Associate Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Cyprus, Nicosia, Cyprus, where he is the Director of Research of the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence. He directs the Embedded and Application-Specific System-on-Chip Lab, University of Cyprus, that runs several projects related to embedded, mobile, and reconfigurable systems, tinyML, embedded computer vision, embedded pattern recognition and classification architectures, and intelligent system-level monitoring and dynamic reconfiguration for performance, energy, and reliability of systems on a chip. He has authored/coauthored more than 150 papers and book chapters in internationally acclaimed books and peer-reviewed scientific journals and conferences.
Dr. Theocharides is a Senior Member of the IEEE Computer Society and a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the HiPEAC Network of Excellence. He is an Associate Editor of ACM Computing Surveys, ACM Transactions on Emerging Technologies in Computing Systems, IEEE Transactions on Computer-Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems, IEEE Design & Test, the ETRI Journal, IET Computers and Digital Techniques, and Lecture Notes in Computer Science (Springer Nature). He also serves on several organizational and technical program committee boards of various IEEE/ACM conferences.

Committee Member: Scott Tamashiro
Scott is a member of his department’s technical staff for Raytheon in El Segundo, CA. He holds a BSEE with a Math Minor from Cal Poly Pomona and a MSEE from the University of Southern California. He has 25 years of experience in the field of reliability and maintainability analysis of a variety of ground, space, and airborne systems. He is a Raytheon Subject Matter Expert & Six Sigma Specialist and ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer. He also teaches for USC’s System Safety Certificate Program.
He enjoys volunteering and his past committee and representative efforts have spanned local, regional, technical activities, IEEE-USA, MGA, Young Professionals, and Standards. He is currently on the Reliability Society AdCom, the IEEE-USA Conferences Chair, the Region 6 Conferences Chair, the IEEE Rising Stars Conference Chair, registration chair for IEEE GHTC, a member of the IEEE Public Visibility Committee, and a member of the IEEE Conferences Committee.
He also loves to spend time with his wife and two young kids at home or visiting someplace new. He is also the head statistician for the local Major League Soccer team.

Dr. Henry Leung is a professor of Electrical and Software Engineering at the University of Calgary, Canada. He was previously with the Department of National Defence (DND) of Canada as a defence scientist. He has over 350 journal papers and over 300 refereed conference papers in the areas of signal and image processing, data mining, information fusion, machine learning, IoT and sensor networks. He also holds more than 15 patents. Dr. Leung is the editor of the Springer book series on “Information Fusion and Data Science”. He is an associate editor of various journals such as Scientific Reports, IEEE Journal on Emerging and Selected Topics in Circuits and Systems, Sensors, and IEICE Trans. on Nonlinear Theory and Applications. He is a Fellow of IEEE and SPIE.

Yongcan Cao is currently an Associate Professor and Assistant Chair of Research in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Director of the Unmanned Systems Lab at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Utah State University in 2010. Dr. Cao’s research team focuses on advancing the foundational understanding of robotic systems and their collaboration with humans to address intelligence, effectiveness, safety, reliability, and interoperability. He is a senior member of IEEE and AIAA, a member of the IEEE Control Systems Society and Robotics and Automation Society. He is a recipient of President's Distinguished Achievement Award in Research Achievement and National Research Council Research Associateship Award at AFRL, and a Microsoft President’s Endowed Fellow. He is currently serving as the Chair of the IEEE TC on Manufacturing Automation and Robotic Control, an Associate Editor for Automatica, and an Editorial Board Member for the IEEE Control Systems Society.

Dr. Zhibo Pang received MBA in Innovation and Growth from University of Turku in 2012 and PhD in Electronic and Computer Systems from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in 2013. He is currently a Senior Principal Scientist at ABB Corporate Research Sweden, and Adjunct Professor at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, Member of IEEE IES Industry Activities Committee, Vice-Chair of the TC on Cloud and Wireless Systems for Industrial Applications, and Co-Chair of the TC on Industrial Informatics. He is Associate Editor of IEEE TII, IEEE JBHI, and IEEE JESTIE. He was Adjunct Professor at University of Sydney from 2019 to 2023. He was General Chair of IEEE ES2017, General Co-Chair of IEEE WFCS2021, and Invited Speaker at the Gordon Research Conference AHI2018. Federico Alimenti (Senior Member, IEEE) received the Laurea degree (magna cum laude) and the Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Perugia, Italy, in 1993 and 1997, respectively. He is currently an Associate Professor of Electronics. Since 2001, he has been with the Department of Engineering, University of Perugia, teaching the class of RFIC design. Between 2011 and 2014, he was the Scientific Coordinator of the ENIAC ARTEMOS Project. In Summer 2014, he was a Visiting Professor at EPFL, Switzerland. He has participated at the Summer School 2017, held at Infineon Austria AG, Villach, as a Keynote Lecturer. In 2018, he got the qualification as a ‘‘Full Professor’’ and won the ‘‘Mario Sannino’’ Award for the best research in the field of microwave electronics. He has authored three European patents and more than 200 papers in journals/conferences and books. His H-index of 25 with more than 2300 citations (source Scopus). His research interests include microwave and RFIC design. In 1996, he was a recipient of the URSI Young Scientist Award and Visiting Scientist at the Technical University of Munich, Germany. In 2013, he was also a recipient of the IET Premium (Best Paper) Award and the TPC Chair of the IEEE Wireless Power Transfer Conference.

Dr. Qun Zhou Sun is an Assistant Professor at University of Central Florida. She is the director of UCF Smart Infrastructure Data Analytics Lab. Before joining UCF, Dr. Sun worked for Genscape and GE Grid Solutions as a power system engineer. She received her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University. Dr. Sun is dedicated to the research that improves energy sustainability, resiliency, and security. She focuses on grid-edge resources, including smart buildings, rooftop PVs, and batteries, and their interactions with the grid.

Committee Member: Olivier Trescases
Olivier Trescases received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering at the University of Toronto in 2007. Before joining the University of Toronto as an Assistant Professor in 2009, he worked as a Concept Engineer and mixed-signal IC Designer in Infineon Technologies, Austria, focusing on safety-critical automotive applications. At the University of Toronto his group conducts research on high-efficiency power electronic converters for automotive, industrial and renewable energy applications. His expertise is in the area of energy management, high-frequency/high-density power electronics, power ICs including wide bandgap semiconductors, battery management systems and electric vehicles. While on sabbatical in 2016, he worked at the Texas Instruments Kilby Labs, Santa Clara, USA, and then at NXP Semiconductor in Eindoven, Holland. Trescases is a Full Professor at UofT and a Canada Research Chair in Power Electronic converters. He is the Director of the UofT Electric Vehicle Research Centre. Prof. Trescases received several best paper awards at IEEE COMPEL, ECCE, EDSSC, ISPSD, INTERPAK.
.He is an associate editor for the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics. He has been involved with the IEEE Toronto Section (4000+ members) in various roles and served as the Section Chair from 2018-2019. He has served on various IEEE conference technical committees, including the Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC), the Custom Integrated Circuits Conference, and the International Symposium on Power Semiconductors and ICs.
