IoT Scenarios

Introducing IoT Scenarios: Connecting Engineers, Use Cases and Real-World Applications. Submit, Like and Comment on IoT Scenarios.

To really understand the Internet of Things (IoT) requires application, implementation, and execution in the real world. IEEE IoT recently launched a program to provide the IoT community an interactive platform on which to engage with use cases, service descriptions, business models, and reference implementations that will be key to developing a vibrant IoT industry. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to contribute to the IoT cause, as well as get excellent exposure for your projects and ideas.

Description

Carlos lives in a densely populated and heavily trafficked urban area. He likes to walk, run or ride his bicycle whenver he needs to go somehwere, but recently he has become worried about the health risks of living and traveling in these crowded areas. Therefore he has begun to use the Interactive Street Sensing (ISS) application aimed at sensing and avoidance of environmental health hazard risks in polluted city streets. The service proposes a small, but scalable network. ISS collects its information through sensor nodes equipped with a temperature sensor, humidity sensor, light sensor, and CO sensor. The system is then able to communicate with mobile networks in order to transfer data to all interested parties and to achieve real time service. A map illustrating the real time and historic data of pollution is now always available for Carlos, helping him avoid areas with high pollution rates.
