To really understand the Internet of Things (IoT) requires application, implementation, and execution in the real world. Following up on the idea of being able to plan your route via air pollution, might consider adding how crowded certain places are (for example, the tube or bus during flu season). Use sensors to determine how crowded buses and such are so you get on less crowded and presumably 'cleaner' or less germy routes.
