IoT Scenarios

Introducing IoT Scenarios: Connecting Engineers, Use Cases and Real-World Applications. Submit, Like and Comment on IoT Scenarios.

To really understand the Internet of Things (IoT) requires application, implementation, and execution in the real world. IEEE IoT recently launched a program to provide the IoT community an interactive platform on which to engage with use cases, service descriptions, business models, and reference implementations that will be key to developing a vibrant IoT industry. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to contribute to the IoT cause, as well as get excellent exposure for your projects and ideas.

Smart Grid, transactive energy
Description:
The concept of transactive energy control is from a Department of Energy US stimulus project lead by the Pacific Northwest National Lab. This would be an IoT implementation of a transactive energy control node. The basic idea of transactive energy is to do a pseudo monetization of what a load would pay per KWh and what a generator wants for it's KWh, and perform a market clearing as part of the total optimization scheme. Equipment state, fuel cost, the load's perceived value of the energy at a particular place and time, everything is bundled in to the creation and modification of a transactive energy signal. Each participating piece of equipment has a compliant transactive energy node, whether a producer or consumer. Rather than describe everything here, please see the details at http://www.pnwsmartgrid.org/docs/newsletter_Winter2011.pdf
